Colvin and I met in 2006 at UNCA. We spent the bulk of our college years as friends, neighbors, and daily Mario Kart competitors. We drifted apart after college (that's a Mario Kart joke), but were reconnected May 2010.  Colvin had just finished building a wooden viking car roof rack with hand carved wolf heads and Chip brought me over to check out this feat of Subaru engineering. From that day on, Colvin and I seemed to spend all our free time together.

After a few weeks of fishing trips and late night cartoon marathons, I called my mother and declared that I wanted to spend my life with him. But I also told her that I thought he was an alien, and even after all these years, I couldn't tell what made him tick. So my plan was to be patient and weasel my way into his heart through long term friendship.

I could not, as it would be revealed, be patient. After a few weeks and a lot of long nights hanging out on porches and in front of bonfires, I told him I liked him and that he'd just have to deal with it.

Colvin proposed to me on July 10th 2016 in the Ohio national forest. We were mid road trip when we decided to go camping and stumbled upon an oasis under a blanket of stars. I guess he smartly decided he'd never get a better opportunity.

We have been a team for over seven years now. It's been seven years of happiness, stress, joy, sickness, health, poverty, and success. Including two cat adoptions and a 3 year relationship with Gregory, the groundhog who lives in our backyard.

Colvin is my best friend and my partner.
